Businesses define their business goals and based on the same make an announcement for prospective bidders. This announcement is called a Request for Proposal (in short RFP). RFP comprises the information about the business, its business goals and aligned statement of work, and the criteria for evaluation. This gives prospective bidders a pathway and structure to bid for the business opportunity.
Response to RFP determines whether the bidder would earn the business opportunity or not.
So, what comprises a good RFP response? A good RFP response comprises a clear and somewhat detailed strategy (in some cases multiple approaches) to achieve the business goals cited in the RFP with a holistic view of the business’s short-term and long-term vision. It also involves foresighted insights into the technical roadmap of the solution provided in line with the business scope and scalability. Response to RFP also highlights the bidder’s capability and past record to build the case.
In a typical SAP Project, from a strategy perspective, the bidder would highlight different modules involved, the data integration approach, communication between systems and an understanding of architecture and the team would navigate through the scope to achieve the end goal. Project management strategy is also identified to highlight the phase-wise progression of implementation and showcase a path to completion.
